Find your deepest Joy and live it daily

‘Perfect’ is defined as a state of completeness or flawlessness. So a perfect life is one that’s deemed to be complete, full, utopian.

Now you’re probably thinking, “What do you mean perfect life? Bah! There’s no such thing as a perfect life..!

Ok, so maybe a perfect life is impossible.

But what if  there’s such a thing as YOUR perfect life – a life you consciously designed, a life full of all the things you truly desire?

I invite you to suspend your cycicism, humour me for now, and entertain the possibility of attaining your perfect life -  can you picture what will it be like?

What will you be doing on a day to day basis?

What accomplishments will you be striving towards?

Who will you be doing your activities with?

Where will you be staying?

How will you be feeling? What things wiill you be experiencing?

Most importantly, WHO will you be?

And if who you are now is vastly different from who you really want to be, are you prepared to do whatever is necessary in order to become the person you really want to be?

A LIFE-CHANGING PRACTICE

What I’m about to talk about here is a concept I’ve known for a while but it was good to be reminded of it again when I watched the first DVD of Frank Kern’s Mass Control 2.0, called “Core Influence”. I was pleasantly surprised when he started the whole Mass Control course with this, for it was about exploring beliefs and personal development.

In the DVD, Frank presented the idea that we have two identities. Our ‘shell identity’ is the one that we show to all of the world, while the other one, our core identity-  is the person who we really want to be. (Here’s a marketing tip he gave: the best way to connect with your target market is to reach out and connect with the person they really want to be – because this is who they really are, even though they may not know it yet. When you speak to who they really are, there is this feeling of recognition, of being truly seen and known- and so you connect with them on a deep level.)

Frank shared about a time in his life when he wasn’t in touch with who he really was, when he did his business in a way that was incongruent with his real identity. There was tension in his life – he didn’t enjoy what he did and he didn’t like his customers. He feared that others saw him in a negative light because he was driving around in fancy cars and lived in a big house. He was constantly paranoid, scared, and miserable.

However, he turned his life around when he did a single, simple, life-changing exercise.  Within 9 months of doing this exercise, he earned more money, he moved to a place where he got to enjoy the sun and sea every day, he started exercising and loved it, and he changed his businesses to those that attracted the type of people he genuinely liked and admired, made new friends, and became happy.

The secret? He found a way to effectively become the person he really wanted to be.

The so-called “life-changing” exercise was answering a series of simple questions, starting with this one: “If there were no limitations or consequences, what would your perfect average day would look like?”

Where would you live?

What would your house look like?

What time would you wake up?

What would you do in the morning / afternoon/ evening?

What would you have for breakfast/lunch/dinner? Who would you eat with?

What would your friends be like? What would you talk about?

What life purpose would you strive towards?

What would your job/business be like?

What would your relationships be like?

If you answer these questions in great detail, the person you really want to be will be revealed so clearly to you. The next question the becomes inevitable: are you ready to set him/her free? Are you now ready to commit to make every day your perfect day so you can be your true self, and thus create your perfect life?

Living out your perfect day is a commitment, a moment-to-moment decision. If you feel this is an overwhelming task, remember that you need only live your perfect day today. Yes, just for today. Take it a moment at a time, a day at a time.

I’ve done this exercise a long time ago, and to be honest, like many things I have done in the past, it just got stashed away somewhere. So I sat down and wrote every single detail of my perfect day. And boy what a powerful exercise! It really helped me focus because it brought me to the present moment, to the here and now, to the only moment when life truly unfolds.

So now it’s YOUR turn – answer the questions above, describe your perfect day, and feel free to share it with us by writing it on the comments section below!

P.S. You might also want to do this fun exercise – I found a website where you can write a letter to your future self, and see what others had written to their future selves, too. Some are hilarious, some are poignant, some are inspiring. Whatever you choose to write, I hope yours is a letter fit to be sent to the real you  icon smile Who Else Wants to Have a Perfect Life? –>  http://www.futureme.org

Marj, this is similar to something from Richard Brodie that he calls “Core Needs”. I’ve found his question asking exercise invaluable. You simply cannot be successful and happy (at least authentically happy and successful) without understanding these core values. These questions from Frank are valuable and I’m adding them to the ever growing list of questions I’m tracking around this topic.

Yes Stephen, understanding and meeting our core needs are fundamental to our journey towards Self-realization as human beings.
Anthony Robbins and Marshall Rosenberg discussed these in depth in their works, too.
When we are in touch with who we really are and act from that space, then we align with our highest potentiality and thus experience a sense of perfect peace, secure in the knowing that we are where we are supposed to be :)
