In How to Totally Motivated and Unstoppable Part 1, we covered 4 proven goal-setting techniques that will help you become so motivated, single-minded and absolutely, positively, relentlessly focused so that nothing stands between you and your success. In this blog entry we’ll cover 3 more techniques.
Let’s continue.
5. Plan your concrete, step-by-step Action Plan and execute at least one action every day.
The key to a successful execution of your Action Plan is to consciously feel and think and know that you are moving closer and closer to your goals every day, that you’re making progress every day, that you are where you are supposed to be, doing exactly what you are meant to be doing, and becoming the person you have always wanted to become.
The only way to do this is by taking proactive, positive actions consistently. I recommend as consistently as every day. This is the most effective way to train your mind, emotions and body focused on the goal.
Don’t underestimate the power of this step.
Don’t make the common mistake of perceiving each action you complete as being ‘little’ or having ‘negligible’ effect on your progress. Nothing could be further from the Truth. Don’t be fooled into thinking what you accomplished wasn’t a big deal. Each thing you do may appear small, but it’s the little things that make up the big stuff!
Always acknowledge and commend yourself whenever you successfully resisted a temptation, or whenever you made the right choice.
Stick to your day-to-day tasks, no matter how small or big or difficult or challenging or uncomfortable. Do this, and the rest of your dreams will follow.
6. Track and Measure your Progress – every day.
Use a reporting or tracking system of some kind that works for you. It may be as simple as having a spreadsheet or a small notebook and recording the important details at the end of each day.
Of course, the metrics you’ll use are dependent on your particular goal. If, for example, your goal has something to do with increasing your financial intelligence, your daily records might look like this:
Day 1 – researched which books are best to read about personal finance or economics
Day 2 – bought 2 books based on yesterday’s research
Day 3 – destroyed 3 of my credit cards so I won’t be tempted to use them anymore
You must do this every day, regardless.
Even when you didn’t do anything that moved you closer towards your goal, you must fill out your daily report. In fact, you must write your report especially when you’ve failed to take action! Because this will clearly show you just how you’re much of your tasks you’d been leaving unaccomplished. This can then serve as a strong reminder that you NEED to get back on track as soon as possible!
This technique is extremely helpful because you get to see your accomplishments. You get to see the choices you made each day, and you get a visual, concrete evidence of how you’re living up to your standards.
7. Get a strong support system (and play an active part within that support system)
Get a mentor who had already achieved the goals you have set for yourself.
This is one of the best ways to take a shortcut to success because you get to benefit from everything your mentors have learned in far less time and far less cost.
Just imagine – no need for you to fall into the same mistakes they have, no need for you to spend the same amount of years or decades just to gain what they had gained!
Of course, you must be careful whose advice you take. Ensure that you choose mentors who are genuine, and rich in experience and knowledge. A mentor doesn’t have to be someone you can physically be with all the time, although this is ideal. Technically as long as you can learn from someone actively, you can make them your mentor.
Another great tactic is being a part of a group that supports you and actively encourages you to succeed in your goal.
It’s a fact that if you chose to pursue becoming the best person you can be, it is going to be very tough and you’ll consistenly be doing a lot of hard work. It’s just part of your exapansion process. Hence being in the company of like-minded people who understand what you are going through, and who can offer some help, advice, guidance and encouragement will make a tremendous difference.
So go and be part of a group that supports your growth and expansion.
And when you’ve learned enough and benefited enough from your mentors and peers, remember to pay it forward, too!
YOUR UNSTOPPABLE ACTION PLAN
- List everything in your life that you’re not going to put up with/tolerate/accept anymore. Do you habitually make excuses? Complain? Lie? Oversleep? Do you Procrastinate a lot? Do you have an addiction? Do you feel out of control? Focus on changing patterns of thinking, behaviour and actions that YOU make that are damaging you and other people.
- Truly Decide. This means cutting off all other options!
- Write your Big, Hairy, Audacious, Exciting, Lofty, Grand, Worthy, Amazing Goals Down – and truly commit to it.
- Bring yourself to commit to your goals on all levels – emotionally, intellectually, mentally, physically, spiritually – to achieving the desired outcome! Recite your affirmations. Visualize your goal. Live it and breathe it and focus on it!
- Plan your concrete, step-by-step Action Plan and execute at least one proactive task every single day.
- Track and Measure your Progress – every single day.
- Get a strong support system (and play an active part within that support system)
Conclusion
If you’re really serious about achieving any goal, becoming motivated and unstoppable is your first crucial step.
Remember, it’s useless having the knowledge about what to do if you don’t have what it takes to ACT and make things happen. And to make things happen, you need the right tools and the right ‘mind technologies’ like the ones we’ve outlined here.
Fail to ‘get’ this, and you’re guaranteed to fail even before you start.
